About the Author

Currently living just outside Great Barrington, Massachusetts, David Hodge teaches guitar (almost all styles and types), bass, piano and other instruments, as well as songwriting and music theory. He gives private lessons and also teaches seven group classes at the Berkshire Community College’s South County Center in Great Barrington.

David joined Guitar Noise, one of the Internet’s most highly acclaimed free guitar tutorial websites, as a columnist in November of 1999. Today, as the site’s “Lead Editor” (an in-joke as he’s always considered himself more of a rhythm player!), he supervises all content in addition to writing many of the site’s lessons and articles.

David still keeps pretty busy! In addition to his teaching and work for Guitar Noise, he also writes lessons for Acoustic Guitar Magazine. He is the author of three Idiot’s Guide to Guitar books: The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Guitar, The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Playing Rock Guitar and The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Playing Bass Guitar as well as the co-writer of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Art of Songwriting.
