Okay, hate to tell you, but if you came to this article because of the title, I need to direct you to another page – the January 1, 2018 column, “One More Time” has (as of a few moments ago) all the right links to the four Idiot’s Guides that everyone seems to be missing the audio links for.

Thank you everyone for writing. It seems like the folks at DK keep moving the audio files online! Try this URL for the “Idiot’s Guides: Playing Guitar“ book
When you get to this page, you should see a note at the bottom called “book extras.” Put your cursor over the “download the audio tracks” (it should appear with an underline) and click on that to start the download to your computer. I’ve not tried this URL yet, so please let me know if it doesn’t work.
Should it not work for whatever reason, give this link a try:
This is the “properties” URL when I click on the “download the audio files” I mentioned earlier. Hopefully one of these two will work. If not, just drop me another email.
I’m still trying to get the audio for “Idiot’s Guides: Guitar Theory,” and I will post it up here as soon as I do.

It’s been a very weird and busy year (more on that soon!) but I’ve been getting a lot of emails about not being able to find audio files online for my last four books.A

Unfortunately, the URLs for the audio files got changed when DK Publishing took over the “Idiot’s Guides” from Alpha Publishing. When DK changed their website (almost over two years ago now), not all the audio tracks made the switch. They are still available, just at a different URL than that listed in the book. Here are the ones you want:

I have bought both Gitar Theory and Playing Guitar but have been frustrated in trying to access the audio files, the reason I bought the books in the first place. Your Dec 29th note doesn’t clarify things because when one clicks on Book extras, it does nothing. Below that bold-faced heading you can sometimes catch a ghost-like text (only half of the letters showing) which disappear when the cursor approaches. Help!

When I look at the page (my browser is Internet Explorer), there is a line directly under “Book Extras” which reads “Download the audio tracks” which gets an underline when I put the cursor on it. Clicking on that should create a zip file for you on your computer. Please let me know if this works for you.

I am having the same difficulties and frustrations when attempting to access the audio files. There is no line under “book extras”, and no apparent way to download the audio tracks.

What browser are you using? I understand that it’s different depending on which one you use. I can work it in either Internet Explorer or Firefox. You may want to try one of those. Let me know if you’re still having problems with it.

Downloaded the tracks and went to play them and there is nothing there. No recording get for each lesson. Really disappointed because this book has a lot of great things in it. Just wish I had an audio file to help me along.and I’ve tried all the different browsers you’ve suggested in your previous comments.

I am having exactly the same problem. When I click on the link for Guitar Theory, I get a message that says:
404: DOES NOT COMPUTE!
Sorry, the page you’re trying to reach is temporarily unavailable or the page may no longer exist.
I have also bought the book and I cannot use the links; it is quite frustrating.
What can you do? Those DK lawyers have to respect former customers. This is no far-west.

if i can get the audio files. When i click yr link, it shows error 404,a DK webpage. I stay in Asia so I dnt no is it because of the global directory thing. Any ways i can download your audio files?

Just purchased Idiot’s Guides Playing Guitar. Tried to access audio content files via Firefox and am unable to get to online audio tracks. Error message says site is unavailable. I will be returning the book to B & N as it’s not complete without the audio tracks.

Hello David, I followed your instructions, using firefox, and it worked perfectly I now have the files downloaded to my PC. I am not sure that this is the correct forum to ask a question BUT I will anyway in the arpeggios section, page 117 in the book, the tabs for the D chord are different, which is why I wanted the music to check.Apart from extra notes they sound the same to me

David, ALL the links you gave above are dead ends. All the links from dk either present as “Sorry, the page you’re trying to reach is temporarily unavailable or the page may no longer exist.” or the links download a .zip file with no file inside.
Could you please fix this. I have been unable to find the audio files from “IG:Guitar Theory amongst others at ANY links online.

So the first two links (Songwriting & Ukulele) take you to the right website, but the .zip files do not contain any files when you try to download them. The second two sites (Playing Guitar, Guitar Theory) load to a 404 page.

I just purchased Guitar Theory 09/21/2017. It is unbelievable that problems getting the audio files has been going on for so long
and now for the past few months no more comments by you. Audio files are not new. How hard is it to get these posted?????
I wish I read these comments before going to Barnes&Nobles. I need to get get a hold of them about a recourse other than a refund.
These promised audio files need to be available!

Ugh!! Just another “Idiot” who’s having the same problems as everyone else, i.e. trying to access the audio portion of the book they purchased, in my case Guide to Playing Guitar.

I tried pasting https://www.dk.com/us/9781615646364-guitar-theory/ into a browser address bar, in IE and Chrome, to try and find the audio files but it immediately takes me to https://www.dk.com/uk where doing a search for “Guitar Theory” but there are no matches to your book, nor to “download”.

Download the audio tracks (111 MB ZIP) to accompany the lessons within the book.
Please let me know if you get these okay! The publisher changed around the entire site again and I trying to keep up with them. The good news is that all the download links for all the books are in one place!

Travis Style Picking…. Track 92 Bars 7 thru 10 Says Dm, Dm, Em, Em but the only way I can make it work is Dm, C, F, D. Am I missing something?

The chords on the third line of page 127 (Track 92) are in error. They should read Dm, C, F, and Dm. Sorry about that.

I tried every link you’ve shared and I still cannot download the zip file. You’d imagine that after so many people experiencing the same problem you’d come up with some sort of an alternative solution like a file share link or even just uploading them on YouTube – it’s not really rocket science, we’re talking about idiot’s guides, yet we can’t figure out how to distribute a file to all of the customers…
